Water Survival

Water survival training class (practical) will familiarize the offshore employee with water survival techniques that would be essential in surviving an offshore emergency. There are several factors that will increase a person's chance during a survival emergency.

These will become our learning objectives during both the classroom as well as the pool portion of the training. Some of the more important factors covered are:

Classroom:

• Mindsets, Station Bills
• Attitudes
• Positive Buoyancy
• Personal Floatation Devices (PFD)
• Hypothermia
• Life Rafts/Capsules
• Entry from a Height
• Helicopter Safety
• Swing Ropes and Personnel Baskets
• Types of Emergencies
• Abandon Platform
• Signals/Location Aids

Pool:

• How long can they hold their breath?
• Positive and Negative Buoyancy
• 50 yard swim
• Show proper way of swimming, breast stroke
• PFD's--Type I, V
• Form a circle
• Count Off
• Enter from a Height with PFD
• Simulated Night Drill with PFD
• Proper storage of PFD
• Helicopter Drill
• Life Raft Drills
• Life Ring Drills
• Clothing--Pants, Shirts & Coveralls
