Crane Operator Qualification

As promulgated by ANSI B5-3.1.2, OSHA 1926.20 & API-RP-2D & MMS G202 (c). This program is a one-day crane certification course that is intended for personnel who already have experience with cranes. It consists of lectures and discussion of skills and knowledge items that the participant will be expected to either demonstrate or describe. The afternoon session of the class consists of hands-on demonstration (by each student) on the crane he operates, followed by a comprehensive written exam.

The employer shall permit only those employees qualified by training or experience to operate equipment and machinery. Training shall include the following:

• Standards
• Responsibilities
• Prestart/Inspection
• Travel
• Inspect Job Site
• Determine Crane Capacity (Load Charts)
• Setup
• Rig Loads
• Shut Down
• Oral and Written Examination

Length: 4-6 hrs.
