API RP 2D

This program is a one-day crane operator re-qualification course for operators of offshore pedestal mounted cranes. It consists of lectures and discussion of skills and knowledge items that the participant will be expected to either demonstrate or describe. The afternoon session of the class consists of hands-on demonstration (by each student) on the crane he operates, followed by a comprehensive written exam. Industry best practices recommend all crane operator personnel be trained in rigging.

The employer shall permit only those employees qualified by training or experience to operate equipment and machinery. Training shall include the following:

• Responsibilities
• Prestart / Inspection
• Travel
• Inspect Job Site
• Standards Determine Crane Capacity (Load Charts)
• Set Up
• Rigging - API-RP-2D 6th Edition
• Shut Down
• Oral and Written Examination

Length: 4-6 hrs.

Course Renewal: 4 years.
