All employees whose work is regulated by 29 CFR 1910.146 must be provided training to acquire the understanding, knowledge, and skills necessary to perform assigned duties under 29 CFR 1910.146 safely.
29 CFR 1915.7 applies to employees engaged in shipyard employment meaning: ship repairing, ship breaking, and related employment.
Training should include:
- Ability to carry out written and oral information or instructions left by a marine chemist
- Knowledge of structure, location, and designation of spaces where work is to be performed
- The ability to calibrate and use testing equipment. (hands on training)
- To be able to interpret the best results accurately
- Lockout/Tagout requirements
- The ability to evaluate and perform all required test and inspections that may be required
- Establish ventilation requirements
- Maintaining records
- Hot Work Procedures within confined Spaces
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment
- Perform assigned rescue duties. Non Entry/Rescue
Length: 8-10 hrs.
