29 CFR 1910.67-68
29 CFR 1926.453
Aerial lifts (man lifts) are one of the most common devices used to conduct work from elevated locations and are commonly used to replace traditional shipyard scaffolding. Aerial lifts are defined as, "any vehicle-mounted device, telescoping or articulating, or both, which is used to position personnel. "Aerial lifts include boom-supported aerial platforms, such as cherry pickers or bucket trucks. The major causes of fatalities are falls, electrocutions, and collapses or tip-over. This training is intended to point out some of the basic safety situations which may be encountered during the normal operation and maintenance of your machine and to suggest possible ways of dealing with these conditions.
